Maya Bateau

Maya Bateau 6’1 graduating Class of 2024 from Elmont, NY is a skilled post player who can stretch outside the three point line and is always hosting block parties.

Maya Bateau has all the tools. She is a multifaceted post player. Maya is an unstoppable shot blocker! Her length allows her to block shots with her hands straight up while her athleticism allows her to quickly get out to shots timing the block perfectly! In the low post, after gaining position Maya uses her post moves to finish on either side of the basket. When at the high post, Maya can beat a player off the dribble to the basket and finish with contact. What is more impressive is Maya’s ability to handle the ball. Maya has a controlled dribble anywhere on the court. After grabbing a rebound or blocking a shot Maya is not afraid to bring the ball up the court herself but she also knows when to pass in transition pushing the ball up the court to her teammates. She can go coast to coast making a move to either get to the basket or create a shot for herself.

In her eighth and ninth grade, Maya was a varsity started at Floral Park High School. Maya was awarded Long Island All Defensive Player her freshman year at Floral Park. After completing ninth grade, Maya reclassified and transferred to Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, CT) playing on their varsity basketball team. Maya is now a sophomore at Hotchkiss and a PLAYER TO WATCH! Maya has been a member of the National Honor Society throughout her high school years. In college, Maya is interested in studying finance.
