Kym Royster

Kym Royster is a 6’2 professional basketball player and 2019 graduate of Indiana University. Kym is originally from Newark, Ohio, where her basketball journey started. Her ultimate goal is to become a professional player in the WNBA.

Royster has a reliable mid-range jumper and can hit the three. She likes to step out of the low post, face up, then drive past her defender. Kym’s sweet spot is the low block where she uses her moves to get around the defense and score. Off the ball, she is ready to make cuts or set screens for her teammates. Royster rebounds the ball well and scores off the offensive boards.

Kym is a current starter for Vimpelin Veto, participating in the Korisliiga League in Finland. She was Player of the Week Rd. 10. This ’21-’22 season is her first full season as a professional player. At the start of the ’20-’21 season, Kym signed to Casey Cavaliers, a team in the Big V League in Australia. Sadly, the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Previously, during the ’19-’20 season, Royster played three games with Basket Zabiny Brno in the ZBL, located in the Czech Republic.

Kym played DI at Indiana University. She currently stands as the program’s all-time winningest player with 88 victories. Royster played a key role in the success of winning the 2018 WNIT Championship and making an appearance in the 2017 WNIT Elite Eight. Royster finished her collegiate career scoring 876 points, grabbing 617 rebounds, blocking 70 shots, and shooting 56.6 percent from the floor (the second-best field goal percentage in school history).
