Taydra Simpson

Taydra Simpson 5’8, Class of 2022, is from Coram, NY.

Taydra is an unselfish team player with an EMPHASIS ON DEFENSE.  Taydra has a quick step allowing her to get past defenders and good length which allows her to block shots and grab rebounds. Defensively, Taydra makes plays! She is always there to get her hand on the ball or force a player to be uncomfortable to force a turnover. Offensively, Taydra is a three level scorer with a consistent three point shot. Her quickness allows her to always be a step ahead to find the openings. Taydra, being unselfish, is always looking for her teammates to get them the ball! She does a great job grabbing a rebound then, in transition outletting it to her teammate who is leaking up the court.

In the fall of 2022, Taydra was named Hoop Group Defensive Player of the Year. This past season on 2/18/22 Simpson became the All Time Leading Scorer at Long Wood High School (for both boys and girls basketball). Taydra’s individual awards include: All Time Leading Scorer at Long Wood High School, 1,000th Point Scorer, League MVP, First Team All Long Island ’21, Second Team All Long Island ’20, 2x All County, 3x All League, Rookie of the Year ’18, 3x All Conference ’18-’20, All Division ’21 .

Taydra has been a member of her varsity high school team team for five years and a starter for four. Their record at Longwood High School, while Taydra has been a member of the team, is 85-14. She has been a key player for her high school team leading them to New York State Finalists ’18-’19, Long Island Champions ’18-’19, Suffolk County Champions and 4x League Champions.

Taydra is also a varsity lacrosse player and received All Division.

In the classroom, Taydra has a 94.1 average and was named to High Honor Roll. She is a member of the Foreign Language Honor Society and National Honor Society. She has completed AP French and AP Psychology courses. Taydra would like to major in Pre-med/Biology.
